Last month, after spending a month visiting family in England, we drove up to the highlands of Scotland to explore the area more and visit some good friends. We went to Scotland for a week. I had such a good time fishing last time, that I wanted to go fishing again.

This was the barbeque our friends had for us

On the first day we were in Scotland, we went to our friends who own You Fish Scotland, Wes and Roz’s loch. They had a barbeque for us in their new barbeque area that Wes built for his fishing business. We had a barbeque and it was delicious. It was cold but really nice. It was covered in snow and the loch was frozen over so we couldn’t fish. I got to play with the dogs, Buddy, Harry and Brock. I threw snowballs and the dogs chased and ate them!

I really wanted to fish because it’s my favorite thing, but the loch was frozen. Wes checked every few days. We kept hoping it would warm up and the ice would melt. At the end of the week, we went back to the loch. It was still frozen with a thin layer of ice.

Wes said he would break it up so we could fish. He got in his boat and shook it to break up the ice that wasn’t working very well. Wes, being crazy and determined, put his waders on and got in the freezing cold water to break up the ice! I really appreciated it, but if it were up to me and I took friends out fishing and saw my loch frozen, I would have given them a pat on the back and sent them on their way! But, no, he got in and broke it up. He has some serious dedication! He’s a very good friend because he wanted me and my brother to be able to fish and made it happen. When there’s a will, there’s a way.

After crazy Wes broke up enough ice, Tai and I got to fish. We each caught a trout. They were really big trout.

Then we went back to Wes’s house and I got to play a lot of Roz’s instruments. I played the piano, violin, and banjo and some others. Then later that night, I got to meet a war veteran who lost his legs in Afghanistan who is a racing car driver now called Davie No Legs.  It was a lot of fun and he really helped me about my shark bite. My next blog will be about him.
